DEA Publishes Final Regulations Regarding the Disposal of Controlled Substances
(Germantown, WI - September 9th, 2014) PharmEcology Services, WM Healthcare Solutions, Inc.
On September 10th, 2014, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) published the final rule regarding the disposal of controlled substances as authorized by the Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act of 2010 by expanding the options available to collect controlled substances from ultimate users for the purposes of disposal. This proposed rule also reorganizes, consolidates, and changes existing regulations on disposal among all registrants, hospitals, clinics, long term care facilities, and other registrant "practitioners."
All DEA registrants should carefully examine the Federal Register publication to determine the impact on their facilities and practices.
Additional guidance is available at the DEA Diversion website.
